I picked up this palette a few years ago in Europe and have had a difficult time finding this exact set in the States. From what I can gather, this specific roll is dye based instead of pigment based, like most watercolors. Pigments are particles suspended in a medium, while dyes are chemicals that need dissolving to produce color that can be used.

There are a total of four discs in the set, each with 6 cakes of watercolor, with a small mixing area in the middle. The discs interlock to stack vertically (along with a clear lid) that makes them compact and convenient for traveling.

The downside is that the mixing area is fairly small and black, which makes it near impossible to see what color you are mixing. The lid can also be used as a mixing surface, if you don't mind that it's clear. On the other hand, their vibrancy is incredible, and you do have enough colors to not be too reliant on mixing.

As always, we can see swatches of each color as well as selected mixes that show off the versatility of the palette. Finally, we have also included a vibrant painting of a sunset to see this guy in action.

Happy painting,
