Next in our series of unique and engaging palette options has been built around floral hues that also act as useful mixtures. We believe that one characteristic of a good palette should be not how many colors there are, but how well the existing colors interact with and complement each other.

This palette includes colors: Dioxazine purple, mauve, permanent rose, burnt sienna, lemon yellow, ultramarine, gamboge hue, and turquoise.

As we can see in the previous reference, even though there are no individual green hues present as pure pigment, on the bottom right side of the mix above we can see just how many greens are available from the blues and yellows that are included. Although all these colors are vibrant in themselves, their respective mixes also provide muted hues, which are great for shadows and certain plant features as needed.

Finally, let's take a look at our study of individual crocuses to see these colors and mixes in action. From purples that pop to gentle greys, from layering techniques to stand alone colors; this palette lends itself to the many needs of floral artists.
